Collaborative Tools (Interactive too)

Common Core Standards require students to occasionally work collaboratively in groups on projects. One method of achieving this is through Google Collaboration in Google Docs, Sheets, Presentation, Drawing, and Forms by sharing access.

Below are other sites students can use for online collaboration:

Today's Meet

When students are required to research as part of a group, they can use another tool called Today's Meet, this tool allows each contributor to find resources and post "text-like" responses in a window, which scrolls along. Once the group is done, they can export the list into a file to save.

Open Class

From Pearson Education comes, "Open Class," which seems more geared towards students using for a resource outside the classroom for tutoring help. This site uses Skype to help students discuss through problems they are having or support each other innovatively. I've not used this tool; however, it has great reviews.

Annotate

Allows students to work collaboratively on documents, images, projects in many formats.

QR Voice

This is a cool new tool I just discovered to take the place of some QR Codes. You can type up to 100 characters and the QR Reader will read this to your students using a robotic voice. Use this to ask a comprehension or "thought-provoking" question at a certain point in a book, integrate this into a "science lab" to get your students to think critically about a specific point in their lab; the use is endless.

You can create these codes and place them anywhere in your homework sheets to interact with your students.

Create QR codes to send your students on a Scavenger Hunt.

Skype for the Classroom

Interact Collaboratively with other Countries using "Skype for the Classroom," an idea to explore worlds outside your own, build students awareness of diversity, and collaborate on lessons in many subjects.

Twiddla

Interactive Engaging Whiteboard app, work with Twiddla! Students can interactively work with others in their project to create diagrams, graphics, photos, brainstorming, web-surfing and much more!

 Dweeber

Let's students do homework with friends online, find support, interact and gain prestige by working hard to help friends.
